Mel is a great memory of a guy that loved to have fun. He had the knack of saying things that were so funny, you couldn't stop laughing. His friendship was a wonderful thing to enjoy.

Melvin Michael Venter enlisted in the Marines and served in Vietnam as a Corporal. He was Honorably Discharged after his enlistment.

Born on 9/3/45, he passed on 11/29/2006 at age 61. Mel is interred in a Veterans cemetery, San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine, Ca.

On 12/14/13 I placed a wreath on Mel's grave during the Wreaths Across America event at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.  I forgave him for calling me Toothpick in the 4th grade when I had such a terrible crush on him.  smiley
